Why 5:40 PM on Level 25 is the best seat in Brisbane — and what to order while the city performs.
Every rooftop bar in the world sells 'the sunset' — most make you watch it over someone's shoulder. Level 25 was drawn around the problem: the terrace runs the full western crown, the infinity edge lines up with the Story Bridge, and the seating was angled so the view doesn't need a premium seat. Golden hour here isn't an event you fight for — it's the building's default state.
Still, there's a right way to do it. Here's what I tell friends.
The 5:40 rule
Sunset in Brisbane sits between 5:10 (June) and 6:45 (January). The show actually starts forty minutes before — when the glass towers go amber and the river turns to mercury. Arrive by 5:40 at the latest on weekends: the west-facing daybeds go first, and the raw bar queue builds by six.

Where to sit
The west daybeds catch the full sunset; the north rail frames the Story Bridge; the cabana lawn is the play for groups who'll stay past dark. Pool-side seats are technically the best — water in the foreground, bridge in the back — but they go to cabana bookings and suite guests first. Honest tip: the southeast corner is the underrated spot — city lights instead of sunset, and never crowded.
What to order
The Story Bridge Sour — rye, lemon myrtle, aquafaba — was built for this hour: amber in the glass, bright on the palate, photographable against the actual bridge. The raw bar's Mooloolaba prawns and a dozen oysters cover the food side properly. If you're pacing a long evening, the 'river route' spritz flight runs three pours at A$65 and doesn't rush anyone.
Staying past dark
The mistake is leaving at sunset — the deck's second act starts when the facade lights come on and the DJ shifts up a gear. Thursday's Balearic sets are the connoisseur's pick; Friday brings live sax over house; Sunday winds down gently for early flights. The pool stays at 28°C until midnight, and a dusk swim with the bridge lit behind you is the story people retell.
